Shane Akers

Notable Training: Shane attended Troy High School and earned his AAS degree in Music and Studio Performance from McNally Smith College of Music.

Professional Opus:  Shane has played in a variety of bands in the local music scene for over 15 years. He is proud to have played a show with Chuck Suchy and Peter Ostroushko and to have performed at First Avenue. 

He has contributed to numerous recording sessions and bands, including Sarah Morris’s “Ordinary Things,” Reina Del Cid’s “Rerun City,” Doug Otto and The Getaway’s “Waltz of Pain,” as well as with Elliot Blaufuss and the Sensitive Fellas. 

Shane has been teaching music for more than 15 years.

For the Record: “I am inspired by artists such as Tony Rice, Jerry Douglas, Bill Frisell, Mike Elliot, and Kevin Daley. I enjoy playing bluegrass, Americana, blues, country and jazz.

“My teaching method focuses on flatpicking, finger picking, chord structure, fretboard knowledge, and ear training.

“My goal is to continue to grow as a player, performer, and teacher.”
