Notable Training: Randy Grist studied music with Ron Hasselmann, David Eagle, and Dave Baldwin. He earned his Bachelor of Music in Trumpet Performance at the University of Minnesota. 

Professional Opus:  One of Randy’s proudest career moments was playing at Carnegie Hall with the U of M Jazz Ensemble. Other career highlights including soloing with All State Orchestra at Orchestra hall and performing at Lakeside Dixiefest with the Reuben Ristrom & His Bourbon Street Boys.

Randy has performed with a number of groups, including the R Factor, Mouldy Figs, Barbary Coast Band, Wolverines Big Band, Jules Herman Orchestra, Stompin’ Dixie, and Orchestra Sabroson. He has played at many churches in the Twin Cities, in a Slumberland TV commercials, at Minnesota Vikings games, and in The Boone and Erickson Live Show with the Reuben Ristrom & His Bourbon Street Boys.

For the Record: “I find inspiration in beautiful melodies and rich chord changes and enjoy playing jazz, funk, R&B, pop, swing, gospel, classical and baroque.

“I utilize the Carmine Caruso method of teaching and am influenced by Max Schlossberg and Charlies Colin.

My favorite performers include Louis Armstrong, Bix Beiderbeck, Blue Mitchell, Lee Morgan, Frank Rosolino, and Bill Watrous.”
