Lucy Davis has been a band director in the Robbinsdale Schools for nearly thirty years, working with students of every age, and taking pride in the accomplishments of her students. As the Cooper High School band director she led several tours, hosted performances in cooperation with the Minnesota Jazz Society, conducted musicals, and the Cooper Hawks marching band made a national tv commercial for the Mall of America. Lucy also coached track and field at Cooper HS.

Lucy started the Robbinsdale All District Band in 1999 and was its conductor for ten years, and was the co-founder and conductor of both the All Star Band and Family Band Night in the Robbinsdale schools. She won grant funding to commission three new works for band, and was honored to conduct their premiere performances. She continues to teach beginning band students in multiple elementary schools each year, and has been happy to add some private studio students to her teaching schedule.

As a horn player, Lucy’s primary teachers have been Larry Barnhart, Edouard Forner, and Chris Leuba. She has a B. A. in Music and Education from Macalester College (St. Paul, MN), and a Master of Music degree in Horn Performance from Western Washington University (Bellingham, WA), with additional coursework at the University of Minnesota, Illinois State University, University of St. Thomas, and Southwest Technical School at Red Wing.

She has performed with numerous and diverse ensembles, including the US Army 2nd Infantry Division Band in Uijongbu, South Korea, the Silverton Brass Band in Colorado, the Gilbert and Sullivan Very Light Opera Company, the Off Broadway Musical Theater, and an alphorn ensemble in Switzerland. She currently is a freelance musician in and around the Twin Cities, and a member of the Minnesota Valley Concert Band.

Lucy is a member of the International Horn Society, Minnesota Music Educators Association, and the National Association of Music Educators. When not teaching, performing, or traveling, Lucy enjoys hiking, running and biking, reading, and being at home with her furry friends Mudge, Rex, and Windsor.
