With acceptance to nearly every major graduate program in the United States, many have completed doctoral degrees and teach at the university level.

Recent graduates have performed with major popular artists such as Adele, The Temptations, and Boys II Men. Others have performed numerous times for the President of the United States and played taps at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier while serving in top military bands in Washington, D.C.

For the Record: “I decided at about age 5 that I wanted to be a musician. My mother’s old cornet was buried in the closet, and I begged her to teach me how to play it. From that point forward, I knew that was what I wanted to do.

“I believe that learning needs to be structured, inspired, and fun. I like to structure lessons based upon the personality of the student. Every student is a bit different, and every lesson I teach is also different, depending upon the mood of the student, how much they’ve practiced, what inspires them, and other intangibles that may come into play.

“Musicians who have impacted me include Maynard Ferguson, Jeff Coffin, Chick Corea, Rafael Mendez, and Maurice Andre. As a musician, I play whatever music is in front of me on a given day, but I particularly enjoy fusion, jazz, and brass quintet.

“Interesting people inspire me. And ice cream…”
