Area Piano Technician Completes Advanced Training

MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota — Andrew Kopp, of Golden Valley, MN, recently completed an intensive three-day seminar conducted by the Piano Technicians Guild.

“Vertical Action Regulation” covered all phases required for regulation of vertical pianos. Attendees learned through both hands-on practice and lecture. The class was limited to 6 students, ensuring each student got plenty of practice time on actual pianos in need of service.

Andrew passed a final regulation skills test at the end of class.

“Proper regulation is crucial to allowing a piano to perform the way it should.” said David Stoneman, RPT, President of the PTG. “Too often, training opportunities for technicians who service vertical pianos are limited. Classes like this ensure that technicians can offer the highest level of piano service to all clients and their instruments.”

“The Vertical Action Regulation class is fantastic not just for the newer less experienced technicians but for more seasoned technicians like myself. Having an opportunity to take hands-on training for vertical pianos is beneficial, being that the vast majority of pianos I see with my clients are uprights. Ward Guthrie, RPT and Lucy Urlacher, RPT are phenomenal instructors and were able to show us many tips and tricks. I highly recommend this class to anyone interested in expanding their knowledge and skills.”
